Claire began her journey into natural healthcare at a young age, as she sought ways to help her mother who suffered with multiple sclerosis. Their journey through hypnotherapy, meditation and visualisation helped them both come to a place of acceptance.
Claire’s journey continued when she chose to study reflexology in Canada where she lived at the time, qualifying as a Reflexologist in 2008. Only 2 years later, she began training as an Acupuncturist. She completed the first two years of a four-year degree-level course before moving back to the UK with her family. The course included Western biomedicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Chinese nutrition, cupping and tui na.
After settling back in the UK, Claire resumed her acupuncture training by completing a 3-year degree-level course at The Acupuncture Academy, where she chose to deepen her understanding of Chinese medical philosophy by pursuing the classical Five Element tradition (which differs from TCM). In this way, she added a new dimension to her knowledge without going over the same ground she had already covered in Canada.
Consequently, Claire practices as a classical Five Element Specialist, drawing on her TCM foundation when needed. Her broad knowledge base means that Claire can adapt her approach to treat a wide range of conditions, whilst bringing about profound change in her patients at a mental and emotional level.
Claire has a particular interest in supporting mental health, and an equally keen interest in supporting women through life changes such as the menopause – a subject she chose to research in her dissertation.
Claire’s journey through natural healthcare continues today, as she studies towards her yoga teacher qualification, and adds to her Chinese medical skillset with further training in paediatric acupuncture.
