April Health Challenge

How is the March Health Challenge going? Forest bathing is something you can benefit from all year round, so it’s not too late to start and it’s a great idea to continue.

Spring is the season of youthful anger and optimism. As April begins nature thrusts forward, utterly transforming the landscape, creating a bright new world for Summer. April’s Health Challenge is all about grabbing the vigorous, transformative energy of Spring to create our own bright new world.

WHAT TO DO

First, think about what makes you angry about the world today. Anger fuels change, so let yourself get properly outraged. Is it plastic in our oceans? Perhaps it’s the euthanasia debate, equal pay, local and national politics, modern slavery, or something else? There may be a few issues that get your blood pumping but try to pick just one that makes you properly cross. The more focussed you are on just one issue, the bigger the difference you can make.

Second, Google your issue – but be selective about what you read! This challenge is about transforming your rocket-fuel anger into optimism by channelling it into positive action, so don’t get bogged down in doom-and-gloom reporting. Look for positive stories about what other people are doing to tackle the issue.

Third, take a moment to really tap into the feeling of outrageous optimism, defiance in the face of all setbacks, and the kind of passion that brought down the Berlin Wall and set Mandela free. As the great man once said, “It always seems impossible until it’s done”.

And finally, take action! This may be signing a petition (or starting one), supporting a charity, joining an action group or political movement, or something else entirely. This is a really important step. Without it, you’ll be left feeling angry and depressed. By taking action, you’ll feel energised, invigorated and hopeful.

Now is the time to grab the vigour of Spring and throw your own passion into the fray. It’s time for you to change the world!
